My Identity

 

Your identity is not in what the world says you are are or who you are suppose to be careerwise in this life.

 

Many people identify themselves with the roles they play i.e. Mom/Daughter/Sister/Wife ...or for a man , a Husband/Dad/Brother...etc.. Or they hold their identity in their profession or line of work i.e. Doctor/Nurse/Stay at home mom/"blue" collar/"white collar"...etc.

 

Many people have taken an identity in what they have been called or labeled in life...good or bad...usually bad. Whether it is a parent/teacher or "friend" that has labeled you, it can run deep and cause so much damage to you and in so many cases causes an "Identity Crisis". You may not know who you are? And you may not know why you are here or the purpose or calling in your life.

 

 

When you become a born-again believer your identity is in Jesus Christ. God made us in His image! You are NOT who this world or the enemy says you are!

 

You are an heir to the throne of God

 

You are a royal preisthood and a King

 

You are a child of God

 

You are part of the Bride of Christ

 

You are bought with a price and you are not your own

 

You are no longer  "just a sinner saved by grace"! You WERE an ole sinner saved by grace, but you are lo longer a sinner saved by gace.

 

When you repented , batized in Jesus name in water and filled with the Holy Ghost , you received that born-again spirit. You were born-again in the spirit. A new person , a new identity was created in you!

 

2 Corinthians 5:17

 

1 Peter

 

...being born again not of corruptible seed but incorruptible

 

Peter speaks of a seed...naturally we all came from a seed

 

In the spirit birth inside of us was placed a seed so to speak. 2 Cor 15:49-50

 

We will bear the image of the heavenly....flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God....

 

Seeds all have an imag placed within them of what they are suppose to be....carrot seeds do not look like carrots, apple seeds dont look like apples, etc.

 

The image is hidden inside of them on what they are suppose to become.

 

There is a seed inside of us, that is the new birth , that is your new identity.

 

2 Cor 18:

 

We all with open face beholding....

 

Image , ...one definition exact image..a perfect copy....like in computers, to copy a hard drive

exact copy of what that seed is suppose to come...that image is the Lord Jesus Christ

 

 

what is the problem?

 

Colossians  2:11-15/ 3:5

 

In Him you were...put off the sins (circumsion- removal of flesh-  choice)

 

Buried with Him in baptism (emersion) raised with Him through faith- baptism buries the old nature

 

3 vs 5 Put to death your members...

 

"PUT"

vs 8...put off....

 

all of these attributes and the old man with them

 

Strongs: verse 8:  659-apotethemi- put away , lay aside or lay down

               verse 9:  554-apekduomai- put off, to strip off clothing

 

vs 9- stripping off....old identity " old sinner"

 

same as the vs 15 "having disarmed or spoiled" (stripped them)

 

PUT OFF THE OLD MAN!

 

PUT ON THE NEW MAN

 

vs 10...have PUT ON the NEW MAN ...image of Him who created Him

 

Strongs: vs 10: Put -enduo....enduded, put on clothed with, arrayed in, to sink into your clothing

same def Eph 6...put on the whole armor of God

 

Do you have the NEW MAN on?

 

...who is RENEWED (perpetually NEW)
