Do you really know what happened when you said the sinners prayer? You were born again in the spirit. You were given a new identity, citizenship, family and inheritance.

I Peter 1:23-25 : 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides forever.

24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower thereof falls away:

25 But the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

In the natural you started as a seed and grew from there. Being born again is similar. Our "new man" is planted inside of us as a seed and must be fed and nurtured and grown.

Concerning seeds, inside of every seed there is an image of that which it is to become....apple seeds make apples, pumpkin seeds make pumpkins....pumpkin seeds do not make apples! They each have their image placed within so to speak.

I Corinthians 15:49-50 : 49 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

2 Corinthians 3:18 : But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

We MUST dispense(put off) the "old man" and embrace (put on) the "new man".
